How to Remove a Computer Virus

Would it be nice if you are in hurry to get your things done and then suddenly, you are forced to stop it realizing that your PC has virus? There will be no more upsetting experience than having your desktop computer and laptop running slowly especially when you need to finish something that is very important. In cases like this that your device is not functioning well or there are strange windows that keep on popping up each time you browse online or about Windows, one high possibility is that your desktop computer or laptop may have been infected by malware, virus, or spyware that proliferates right on the web.

If a computer is infected with a malware, the first thing that one can think of is to remove it quickly as it is really a pain in the neck. Though there are ways to check viruses like the online scanner, such as the Microsoft Safety Scanner which is a free online service that is effective in identifying and removing viruses, cleaning up the hard disk and completely improving the performance of a computer, it is still better to know how to manually remove a virus from your computer because sometimes a malware is required to be removed manually. The following are 2 methods of virus removal:

Running Scans

Back-up all your important data.

Check if there are no other factors that cause the problem like its storage, memory, adware or others, because they can also be the reason why your computer is slow and the files are corrupted.

Gather the tools needed like an antivirus program. If you don’t have yet, you can try Kaspersky, Antivir, BitDefender or Trend Micro.

Reboot in the safe mode because it only loads the most important files for your Windows to run which prevents the viruses or malware from activating. In this way, you can easily identify the problem and remove them.

Run your full time system scan with an antivirus program then quarantine the ones that does not look right after the system scan is done.

Test your computer’s performance.

Removing a computer virus manually

Download autoruns that will allow you to pinpoint the problem each time your PC boots.

Adjust the autoruns’ options to make it easier for you to find the infected entries.

Reboot to safe mode with networking because malware and viruses do attach themselves to the startup devices so deleting the service while they are running will allow them to recreate their entry in the registry.

Start the autorun program and wait for it to finish scanning.

Search for suspicious entries, make sure to pay attention to the entry name as well as its file location.

Delete the 1st malware-related entry, this will remove the entries from the startup process but does not really delete the infected files.

Remove all the files that are associated with the deleted entries. You can open the Windows explorer and then navigate to the file location which is associated with the process in the startup entry.

Reboot the computer and reinstall Windows to completely get rid of the infection or virus.

Malware and viruses can pose security risk to all of your data and important information and it can also have a drastic effect on the overall performance of a computer so it is very necessary to do something about it before things get even worse.
